Before I created Wander Often, I didn’t even know about the beauty of bookmaking. I took a class and I was hooked! I loved the simplicity of hand bound journals. 

Then one day my first baby was born and I needed a creative outlet. 

So then…

I started selling journals at a local market and got such a great response! The canvas bags came about shortly after, I have always loved the outdoors and wanted a versatile bag that I could use to run errands, go to festivals, and out on a hike. 

I never thought about making it into a business, it was just something I loved doing. Finding handmade papers, gorgeous leather, dying fabrics and coming up with new color combinations was so much fun.

Then I decided there were other people who love the idea of traveling with their own hand-bound journal and one of a kind bag.

Turns out…

I set out to create the most useable journals and bags for the most authentic, everyday adventurous people around. 

No surprises, the road was more difficult than I imagined. 

The leather was expensive and tricky to find what I wanted. The bags had their own challenges, with finding good hardware and making sure they were built to last.

But . . .

I found a great leather supplier with endless options. I got the textures and colors I was looking for. By dying the canvas and finding built to last hardware, I was ready and so excited to get going!

Through it all we revealed our first products and the response had been so wonderful.
